Good Morning Hartford County!

It’s been a bit of a “wet” week so far and the forecast shows it’s doing nothing but raining through Tuesday.

There are a few outdoor events I’ve curated for you below, but always have a backup just in case.

Regardless, enjoy the warm weather, it won’t be that warm in a month or so!

In today’s edition of The Hartford Pour, we’ll get into:

  • 🫢 COFFEE SHOP HOT SPOT

  • 🏠 NEW RESTAURANT IN GLASTONBURY

  • 💰 What’s Happening in Hartford County?

  • and more…

COFFEE SHOP HOT SPOT
🫢 South Windsor New Coffee Shop

(I’m super impressed)

Walking up to this place, I wasn't expecting much as the outside leaves a lot to be desired, but I was blown away once I got inside.

Last week I was able to visit The Wicked Press, Coffee, Tea, and Bookshop.

It's a combination coffee shop and bookstore, but not just any bookstore, this one has a ton of different hand-selected genres.

This includes Dark Romance, Historical fiction, Young Adult books, kids books, the whole lot.

But what I really enjoy is they invite local authors to show off their books multiple times per week.

And I'm a sucker for supporting the local community, so really, hats off to the wicked press for doing that. 👏

I got one of their signature drinks called Wicked Latte, and when I took that first sip, I was blown away.

It was tasty, rich, not too sweet, but thick. but THICC

I’m sure I am one of the only weirdos ordering hot drinks when it’s almost 90 degrees outside, but I did, and loved every drop!

This may seem strange, but even the quality of their to-go cups is really good.

I was really impressed by how sturdy the lids were because it enhanced the overall drinking experience, making it that much more memorable

I definitely suggest giving it a try.

It’s located at 948 Sullivan Ave in South Windsor. It’s literally like 2 minutes from Manchester. So be sure to check them out and tell them THP sent you.

NEW RESTAURANT IN GLASTONBURY
🏠 Opening Up 2nd Location

(It’s going to be awesome)

Ramen to the Rescue

I live in Bloomfield, which is somewhat close to Granby, but I don't find myself making it out to Granby very often.

And if anyone knows me at all, they know I’m a big fan of Vietnamese Pho and Ramen.

Now, a friend of mine was telling me about a long-time ramen spot that I had never heard of called Tiger Belly Noodle Bar…

and guess where it is… Granby!

So, what do I do?

Well, as strange as it seems, I find myself in Glastonbury more than Granby and just heard that Tiger Belly is opening a second location in Glastonbury!

Over at The Shops at Somerset Square, they will be opening near the Starbucks.

They started construction at the end of May and they should be opening within the next month or so.

I’ll be sure to keep you updated because I’d like to be there day one!

Did someone say Ramen?

THE REAL FUN
💰 What’s Happening in Hartford County?

(The Cure for When You Need Something To Do)

What’s happening in Hartford County during the week?

August 4

If you want to stay in West Hartford, GastroPark is the place to be.

It’s an open-air food truck spot with a full indoor/outdoor bar serving my favorites: local craft beer, cocktails, and wine (because I can be sophisticated at times, too!)

Regardless, the rotating food trucks is what makes this place special. A new experience most nights.

Speaking of wine… Barcelona Wine Bar in West Hartford is the spot.

Happy Hour is from 4pm to 6pm and they have a, brace yourself, a 23-page wine listing.

You read that right… 23-pages of nothing but wine.

August 5

For hump day, if you’re anything like me, you’re already counting down the hours until Friday, so let’s break up the week properly with something fun to do.

In the West Hartford area, New Park Brewing is having their Open Mic Night (sign-ups at 6:00 PM, show at 6:30 PM). It’s free, super low-key, and a great spot to sip a solid craft beer while checking out some surprisingly talented local musicians and performers.

The acts here are pretty good. This isn’t just karaoke.

But if that is not your speed, I got something similar but it’s outdoors.

In Glastonbury, grab a lawn chair and check out the Riverfront Music Series at Riverfront Park around 6:30 PM.

The Glastonbury Town Band is playing right along the CT River.

There are a couple places nearby to grab a drink… either Hops on Birch or the Diamond Pub nearby, then wander down to the water.

Good drinks, live music, and a river breeze, that is hard to beat for a Wednesday.

Check out the Diamond Pub here (the foods great, too)

August 6

First up, over in the Simsbury/Avon pocket, head to Talcott Mountain Collective in Weatogue for their Mountain Music session (5:30 PM – 8:30 PM).

Local artist Ava Grom is playing live on the lawn.

They’ve got a massive tap list of regional craft beers, food trucks on-site, disc golf, and lawn games. (speaking my language for sure!)

Sitting on the grass with a good pint while watching the sun go down behind the mountain is about as good as it gets in Hartford County.

If you are near me in Bloomfield, there is more live music at Waypoint Spirits.

Waypoint is one of those spots that if. you weren’t paying attention, you might have missed it, but they will have Camden Fuller there this Thursday and he's a baby-faced assassin when it comes to the guitar.

But Waypoint’s address is 410 Woodland Ave, Bloomfield, CT.

He starts playing at 6pm, all you have to do is show up!
