Good Morning Hartford!

World Cup is done and the weather has been absolutely amazing the last few days and really hope you’ve been taking advantage of it (it will be cold before you know it!).

Football starts in about 6 weeks so time for the summer lull, but don’t worry, I got plenty for you to do this week!

I’m trying a new section below so please check it out and let me know if you like it (or hate it, that’s OK, too!)

Regardless, one of my favorite breakfast spots is getting a shoutout, and I'm looking forward to knowing what you think about it

There are plenty of places in Hartford to find a good bagel, but one of the most underrated places is Isaac’s Bagel off of Mountain Rd in Bloomfield.

Isaac Suttar and his wife Shaista have been running this place for 30+ years.

They show up every day at 3AM to start baking their bagels from scratch!

Now that is dedication.

And it shows because their bagels are super fresh every single day.

What makes the spot unique is its old-school touch that lets you watch your meal prepared right there.

Personally, my go to is their sausage, egg, and cheese on a Jalapeno Everything bagel.

Their coffee is pretty good as well. They have some specialty coffees that they make on the spot, but their regular brewed coffee is pretty good and tastes smokey!

The vibe is nice, too, with a super unique decor. Including one of those cool red phone booths from London.

They are open from 6AM to 3PM most days and closed on Mondays.

If you’ve driven down Simsbury Road lately, you’ve probably noticed the new kid on the block.

Greyson West is officially changing what modern apartment living looks like in West Hartford.

What makes it really luxurious is the fact that it's not just about the apartment. It's about the community as well.

They have an on-site coffee bar and even private Zoom rooms for you to work in.

But my favorite part of what makes them different is the golf simulator, the infrared sauna, salt meditation lounge, outdoor patio, fire pits, and reflection pools.

This isn’t a sponsored post, but it’s still a nice place to check out if you are in the market for a new apartment in a nice area far away enough from the city, but close enough to take a quick trip down Rt 44 to get to downtown Hartford.

(The Cure for When You Need Something To Do)

There usually isn’t much to look forward to on Tuesdays, but this Tuesday is the exception.

Parkville Market in Hartford has changed the game.

They run their Kick the Keg special at The Pint bar inside the food hall.

It runs from 11am to 9pm (pretty much all day) and it’s half-price select drafts. The deal doesn’t get much better than that.

The reason they do this is to clear out (or kick) the kegs to make room for new arrivals.

Since it’s Parkville Market, there are 20+ other food vendors you can hit up regardless of your taste.

Elizabeth Park is always hosting something during the summer and this week has something so cool, I may make an appearance myself…

Guitarist Daniel Salazar is bringing his famous Guitar Under the Stars showcase starting at 6:30 PM.

Here is what to expect… A vibrant, high-energy mix of Spanish classical guitar, fiery Latin rhythms, and driving percussion that sounds incredible under an open sky.

Honestly, they had me at Spanish guitar…

The best part?

It’s totally free. Just bring a lawn blanket.

The hack?

Stop by The Wise Old Dog and pick up a pack of IPAs to sip on during the evening.

Just a heads up, weather looks a little iffy for Wednesday, so if it does rain, it will be postponed to Thursday night, same bat-time, same bat-channel (Who’s old enough to know where that came from?).

Now, full disclosure: I don't typically push big-box spots like Total Wine.

They basically consider themselves the Walmart of liquor, and I usually prefer pointing you toward smaller, local shops with a bit more character and a less corporate feel.

That said, when there's free booze involved, a deal is a deal and this is a pretty solid opportunity.

It’s always best to try something new before committing to a full bottle and Total Wine’s West Hartford location (over in Corbin’s Corner) is running their Thursday afternoon tasting station.

From 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, they set up free walk-up samplings throughout the aisles.

A Casa Rossa Blueberry wine is going to be my beeline… but they also plan to taste a Passion Fruit Margarita.
